Francesca Cairns is a storyteller whose finely crafted, poetic prose is shaped by an unconventional lifetime spent in wild places.
From the arid South Australian outback to the lush Otway Ranges of Victoria and the remote waters of Newfoundland, Canada, Fran’s immersion in and love for nature is reflected in her writing.
She has an eclectic background in Aboriginal child care, photography, playwright, disability theatre, flower farming and as a pioneering female grader driver in the 1970s.
Fran is the author of Drawing from the Well, a debut novel exploring family secrets and loss, and the mystical, eco-parable Falling for Water. She is currently in the final edit stage of her third novel and lives on a Tasmanian river with her partner, stewarding 33 acres of forest.
